a 20mile radius of Slipper Cottage b and b,
Montacute there are a plethora of wonderful national trust gardens and historic houses
to visit.
National Trust properties in the area are:

Barrington
Court:- An enchanting formal garden influenced by Gertrude
Jekyll, is laid out as a series of walled rooms. It includes the
Rose, Iris, Lily, Iris and White Gardens.

Stourhead:-
This outstanding example of the English Landscape style was laid out
by Henry Hoare 11 between 1740 and 1780, is around a central lake at
the end of a series of vistas.

Lytes
Cary Manor:- Once the home of the medieval herbalist Henry Lyte,
it is surrounded by a lovely garden, with mixed shrubs, roses and
perennials.

The
Treasurer’s House, Martock:- A small medieval house dating
from 1293, recently refurbished by the Trust.
Priest’s
House:- A late medieval hall house, recently extensively repaired.

Stoke
Sub Hamdon Priory:- A complex of buildings from the 14thCentury.

Stembridge
Tower Mill:- The last thatched windmill in England, dating from
1822.

Shute
Barton:- One of the most important surviving non-fortified manor
houses of the middle ages. Dating from 1380.

Tintinhull
Gardens:- A small Manor House garden designed by Mrs Phyllis
Reiss. It is divided into 7 rooms by clipped yew hedges and walls.
